Many people are wondering: Which one is better, the Werewolf, the Vampire or maybe neither of the two?

Here we will talk about which one is better: Vampire or Werewolf, if any of them is better.

Now if you are unfamiliar with the Werewolf or Vampire curse, you can become one in The Elder scrolls Online, to become on there are several ways, if you looking for a guide on how to become either a Werewolf or Vampire you can click here:

According to many modern vampire stories, the vampire and the werewolf are natural enemies. In some stories it has to do with competition for prey, in some the werewolves exist to protect humans from vampires, and in others there is an ancient feud between the two factions that has continued through the centuries.

  • Complete Vampire Guide
  • Regardless of the reason, vampires and werewolves can't help but hate each other, so here are a few of our favorite vampire vs. Werewolf rivalries over the years: Middle-Earth.
  • There are no combined groups of vampires and werewolves, and in fact, Bella is the only non-werewolf or non-vampire to be a part of their daily lives. Eventually, she joins the Olympic Coven along with the rest of the Cullen family.
  • Vampires also have the ability to transform, so it’s perfectly feasible that the fight could quickly turn into a wolf vs wolf, but even in this scenario, the Werewolf would have the major advantage. However, the Vampire may use its shapeshifting and fast speed to evade the Werewolves attacks.

Differences

Apart from all the difference passives and abilities that either Werewolf or Vampire give, there is 1 key difference between the 2:

Once you are a Vampire, this is active constantly, you will constantly gain the buffs (and debuffs) such as increased stamina and magicka recovery, but also decreased health recovery (depending on your vampirism stage and your unlocked passives.

The Werewolf works different, in order to gain acces to your Werewolf abilities, and becoming a Werewolf, you have to use the ”Werewolf Ultimate” this ultimate transforms you into a savage werewolf, gives you increased resistances, increased max stamina and more weapon damage! But, unlike the Vampire you don’t have any downsides when in human form (you only take increased poison or disease damage when you actually use the werewolf form.

So the key difference between the 2 is: Vampire is active at all times, where as with the werewolf you are the same as an ”uninfected player” until you use the Werewolf ultimate and go into werewolf form.

Which one is better

There isn’t necessary a ”better” one, not even for stamina or magicka users, as it really depends on what you plan to do in the game, or what you are playing. Each one has its downs and upsides, the vampire for example can help you with sustain, and also with movability, where are the Werewolf can make you a mini juggernaut that is a force to be reckoned with!

The Werewolf

So personally I wouldn’t recommend Werewolf to any Magicka users, as the werewolf is 100% stamina focused, the only ability that uses magicka is your Howl, which is a self heal. However if you a magicka user you will just lack proper stamina recovery and weapon damage to really be a threat.

So for who is the werewolf useful?

  • Stamina users who want an unique ultimate, that greatly increases your damage and gives your powerful damage over time effects
  • Stamina users who want extra stamina recovery on their backbar ( I for example am a werewolf on my Nightblade, and I slot the werewolf ultimate on my bow backbar I don’t use the ultimate but it gives me 15 % increased stamina recovery

The werewolf is very powerful for PvP, I don’t see a lot of users running it in PvE, but for PvE farming such as in Imperial City, its absolutely amazing! You can make several hundreds of thousands of gold an hour with a proper Werewolf build!

The Vampire

So the vampire works different then the werewolf as in: it gives you constant buffs and debuffs, once you get infected with the Vampire curse, your character will become as white as snow (perfect for playing hide and seek in Skyrim)

Vampire Benefits and Downsides

The benefits of being a vampire are that you gain increased stamina and magicka recovery, once you have the passives unlocked and you are the required stage, and you also take less damage when you below 50% health. However there are also downsides, your health recovery will be significantly reduced -75% health recovery at max stage, and you also take extra damage from fire.

So for who is Vampirism useful?

Vampirism can be useful for many many players here is a list below and why:

  • PvE tanks, Yes you do take extra fire damage but the reduced damage taken makes more then up for it, als the increased recovery helps out greatly
  • Magicka users: Increased stamina and magicka recovery, very useful
  • Stamina Users: Stamina classes such as a templar, or a dragonknight have low movability, and in open world PvP such as Cyrodiil this can be problematic, abilities such as vampire mist can help you surive and allow you to recover, thus staying alive longer.

Characteristics of Werewolves and Vampires

Vampire Vs Wolf

Vampires are mythological creatures that feed on the blood of living creatures. In previous eras, vampires were often described as bloated and dark in color. Since the Victorian era, they have typically been presented as charismatic and sophisticated predators. They have fangs which they use to drink blood, and typically have a human-esque appearance. They typically cannot come out in the daytime, and so are nocturnal.

Werewolves, or lycanthropes, are mythological humanoid creatures that can shapeshift into a wolf-like creature either on purpose or due to a curse. They often turn into werewolves involuntarily on the full moon. Traditional werewolf folklore says that even in human form, werewolves’ eyebrows meet at the bridge of the nose, that they have curved fingernails, low-set ears and a swinging stride. Commonly, werewolves in wolf form are indistinguishable from real wolves, but they can be portrayed as larger.

How they are created

Vampire origins vary from culture to culture. In Slavic and Chinese stories, any corpse that was jumped over by an animal might become a vampire, as might any body with a wound that had not been treated with boiling water. In modern Western tales, people typically become vampires either after another vampire drinks their blood, or, more commonly, after they drink the blood of a vampire themselves.

Folklore suggested that people could become werewolves by removing clothing and putting on a belt of wolfskin, or drinking rainwater out of a wolf’s footprint. 19th century fiction established the idea that new werewolves are created when a werewolf bites or wounds a human being.

Strengths

Vampires are often portrayed as immortal creatures. In some tales, they can fly or turn into bats.

Werewolves are associated with super strength and speed. They are typically considered almost entirely invulnerable.

Weaknesses

Vampires are often portrayed as sensitive to sunlight and garlic. They are also vulnerable to holy objects such as crosses and holy water. According to some legends, vampires are also unable to enter a house unless they are invited inside.Vampires need to drink blood to survive and are vulnerable during feeding.

Werewolves are vulnerable to silver bullets and other silver weapons.

Origins and Evolution

Vampire stories can be found in many cultures, but the term “vampire” was not popularized until the early 18th century, when many vampire superstitions came to Western Europe from the Balkans and Eastern Europe. This led to mass hysteria and accusations of vampirism.

The archetype of the vampire was established by vampire literature, particularly John Polidori’s 1819 novella The Vampyre. This inspired works such as Varney the Vampire, and then Dracula by Bram Stoker. Stoker’s novel is considered the quintessential vampire novel and is the basis for most modern vampire fiction.

Some references to men changing into wolves can be found in Ancient Greek and Roman mythology. Ovid and Virgil both wrote of men turning into wolves.

Famous appearances

One of the most famous Vampire stories is Bram Stoker’s Dracula, and this novel inspired many elements of the modern vampire. The latter half of the 20th century saw many vampire epic novels, such as Anne Rice’s popular Vampire Chronicles. More recently, vampires have appeared in many dark romance and paranormal romance series as sympathetic anti-heroes. These series include Twilight, The Vampire Academy, Anita Blake: Vampire Hunter, and True Blood. In films, vampires appeared in the German silent film Nosferatu, which was unofficially based on Dracula. The film and TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer made vampires part of the popular culture in the 90s and early 2000s, and were followed by series such as True Blood and The Vampire Diaries.

The novel Dracula also used werewolf mythology. The first film to feature a werewolf was Werewolf of London in 1935. Werewolves also appeared, in a sympathetic role, in The Wolf Man in 1941. Werewolves appear in popular novels such as the Harry Potter series, Twilight, Terry Pratchett’s work, and the Shiver series.
