Back in 2014, he was recognized as the best poker player of the decade by the Global Poker Index (GPI). Records from 2020 show that Negreanu has won $42,000,000 in prize money. This makes him the third player in the world of all times to win this much money from live poker tournaments. Besides his success in poker, Negreanu also made a few appearances in motion pictures.
He appeared briefly in the movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine as a poker player. Negreanu also played a poker player in the comedy, The Grand, and took part as himself in the drama Lucky You. Aside from poker, Negreanu also likes to play pool and he is also a great fan of the video game Hearthstone.
The Professional Negreanu Married for the Second time in 2019
Daniel Negreanu has been married two times. He married Lori Lin Weber back in August 2005. The marriage however did not last for long and in November 2007 he divorced Weber.
Last year, in May (2019), Negreanu married his current wife Amanda Leatherman. The couple actually dated back in 2010, but their true romance began in 2018. Daniel and Amanda got engaged on New Year’s Eve 2019 and a few months later, the marriage was a fact. They married at Terranea Resort in Palos Verdes, California.
MasterClass Lessons with Daniel Negreanu
Looking back at 2018, Daniel Negreanu made another big step towards success. He joined the mainstream website MasterClass – you can find his class here. By doing so, he became an online poker instructor.
The MasterClass is basically online video courses, which are created by high-profile instructors. For example, Martin Scorsese teaches filmmaking in MasterClass, while Gordon Ramsay teaches cooking.
Nicknamed “Kid Poker,” Negreanu shared his excitement when he joined MasterClass by saying that the quality which the classes offer is attractive but also said that MasterClass is mainstream. According to “Kid Poker” this was an opportunity to expand the audience for poker.
Negreanu Is Also Active on YouTube
Besides his participation in MasterClass, he has been really active on YouTube. By now, the professional poker champion has reached more than 436,000 subscribers on the platform. Having nearly 400 videos, Negreanu has more than 38,5 million views.
In his videos, the champion shares various tips, tricks and other poker magic. His videos aim at helping not only advanced poker players but also beginners. Negreanu’s content is interesting, yet educating. On Mondays, he shares a poker tip, which is for the beginners, but sometimes he shares advanced tricks, too.
On Tuesdays he usually uploads a vlog or a podcast. Negreanu presents hand breakdown on Wednesdays and on Thursdays he reviews his older videos. Watching his videos, we can honestly say that there’s always something to learn from such a great champion.
World Series of Poker Participation and Prizes
We mentioned earlier that Negreanu has won six World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets. But what is the WSOP bracelet? This bracelet is considered as the most valued non-monetary prize that any poker player can win.
The tradition began back in 1976 and it keeps going at full speed today. But not to mislead anyone, poker players don’t just do it for the fame. The bracelet comes with a hefty monetary prize. The professional “Kid Poker” Negreanu has made a fortune from participating in poker tournaments.
His first WSOP bracelet and win was back in 1998. Negreanu won $169,460 in the $2,000 Pot Limit Hold’em event of 1998 World Series of Poker. This win also made him the youngest WSOP bracelet winner in history. Since 1998, Daniel has participated in 36 career WSOP final tables. Out of all his appearances, he has received 103 monetary prizes. By January of this year, “Kid Poker” Negreanu has made an excessive of $42 million in live tournament winnings.
How Does the Home of a Poker Tournament Winner Look Like?
In case you have wondered how a professional poker player lives, here is what we found out. Daniel Negreanu’s house is located in Las Vegas. He is living in a futuristic, yet fully functioning house. The property is decorated after an “Austin Powers meets Pee-Wee Herman” theme which was achieved with the help of Negreanu’s friends.
Although we could not find information on the property value, we can say that Negreanu’s house is not so humble. Aside from a big kitchen, “Kid Poker”s property also has a functioning bar. Within the same room there is also a poker table and a pool table.
“Kid Poker” Negreanu also dedicated an area where his prizes are displayed and yes – this is where he keeps the six WSOP gold bracelets.
Next to that area, Negreanu has placed family photos as well as pictures of him and ex-President Barack Obama. But that’s not all, Negreanu also has a few arcade game machines. One of those machines features 8,000 game titles but even has a beer tap on the side, which is functioning. Looking at the exterior, Negreanu even has a small garden and of course – a swimming pool.

He is the only player to twice win Player of the Year at the World Series of Poker, doing so in 2004 and 2013.
